Learning Through Restful Rigor

About the Teacher

I'm Tsh Oxenreider (students often call me “Mrs. O”), and as a long-time homeschooling parent of three kids (one of whom has now finished college), I've been teaching adolescents in the classroom setting for eight years. I've got a BA in English Literature & Anthropology from the University of Texas, but I credit 99% of my real education to an ongoing deep-dive into the world’s Great Books.

We're hardwired to learn best through stories, and I believe the greatest ones have something to tell us about ourselves, the world, and the Maker of it all. Living books are the ones that have stood the test of time and stand apart as transcendent from their origin story because they say something timeless: that is, they say something true, good, and beautiful.

If you're longing for a restful but rigorous approach to your child's education in the humanities, my classes might be a good fit.

  • “Tsh Oxenreider is that once-in-a-lifetime teacher who has had the greatest impact on my son, not only as a student but also as a person. Her commitment to beauty and truth in literature and writing has inspired him to pursue English & creative writing in college and as a career. Tsh’s passion and experience as a professional writer, and her ability to connect with young people, is truly a gift!”

  • “Mrs. Oxenreider is the type of teacher you will only meet once in your life. She is compassionate, hospitable, and inspirational.”

    -a former student

  • “Mrs. O was absolutely instrumental in the preparation of my children for life after high school. When my oldest started with Mrs. O, getting a paragraph out of him was a struggle. By the time he graduated, he did not blink an eye at a 20-page paper. He is now thriving with all A’s at a large university. I do not think anyone else could have prepared him as well as Mrs. O..”

  • “Mrs. O was a wonderful teacher and inspiration to me not only in her subject, but in other areas such as leadership, my spiritual life, and living life in search of and in appreciation for God’s love and creation. She will always be someone I look up to and admire.”

    -a former student

  • “Mrs. O's extensive knowledge base of the English language and her love for books and travel give her such a wide range of resources and experiences to pull from. She knows how to encourage kids and bring out the best in them while teaching them responsibility and respect. I cannot recommend her highly enough! She is an amazing human being, and if you ever have the opportunity for your children to learn under her… Don’t hesitate.”

  • “Mrs. O does a great job of keeping me inspired in the classroom. Even though old books and history aren't my favorite subjects, I found myself interested in what we were learning and wanting to turn in quality work. The conversations in class are always fun and fascinating (and often lively!).”

Mrs. O’s 2026-27 Classes

  • High School Humanities: Idaeon (Cycle B)

    pronounced “ee-day-un”

One class that provides two and a half (2.5) full high school credits: English, history, and an elective. As an integrated humanities program, this class uses a chronological timeline over three years to walk through great books and ideas. Cycle B covers roughly 500-1750 A.D. (the Medieval, Renaissance, and Early Modern Worlds). We'll read books such as Boethius' Consolation of Philosophy, Beowulf, The Divine Comedy, works from Shakespeare, and much more.

    Times:
    Section 1: 10:00-11:30 a.m.
    Section 2: 12:15-1:45 p.m.

    Level: High School

  • Adulthood 1

This is a semester-long elective for high schoolers that helps them learn how they’re wired, what they’re good at, and how to cultivate life-giving habits. Geared toward upperclassmen, we cover virtue, personal development, vocation exploration, personal spiritual habit practices, etiquette and interpersonal skills, and more. Students also create a Capstone Project, a semester-long enterprise of their interest—a great experience and deliverable for college applications, resumés, and personal development overall.

    Time: Fall Semester, 1:45-3:15 p.m.

    Level: 11-12th graders

  • Adulthood 2

This is a semester-long elective for high schoolers that helps them learn personal finance, cooking, basic home economics, and skills that aid in their job marketability. Geared toward upperclassmen, we cover budgeting, investing, saving, avoiding debt, and giving; basic cooking, hosting, cleaning, and repair; the job skills of building a resumé and going on job interviews, and more. Students will engage in a semester-long investing project, cook for each other (and their families), learn from professionals (a home organizer and carpenter, to name a few), and practice “going” on job interviews with their polished resumé in hand.

    Time: Spring Semester, 1:45-3:15 p.m.

    Teacher: Tsh Oxenreider

    Level: 11-12th graders

FAQs

  • Scholé Hall is a homeschool community that solely offers a la carte classes. Your student may take only one or enroll in as many classes as possible! However, all families must pay a small registration fee that covers campus rent and small administrative details.

  • Grades are provided in each class for each student, but as the homeschooling parent, if is up to you to decide what to do with them. You'll have easy access to your student's grades, and I'll let you know if I sense your student is struggling. At the end of the school year, it's up to you, the parent, to officially decide what credits your student has earned from each class and to record them on their transcript.

  • Signing up for a class with me is a commitment. I offer a penalty-free cancellation for three weeks so students and parents can get a feel for the course. After this, if you decide to transfer, move, or drop the class, you must pay half of the full year’s remaining tuition. Without this policy, I cannot keep smaller classes profitable or beneficial. Thank you for understanding!

  • Head here for my class rules FAQs, and accommodations policies. (A full handbook is sent before classes begin to enrolled students.)
